What's new for 2027
The 2027 Atlas is a complete redesign built on Volkswagen's MQB Evo architecture. It keeps the roomy three-row layout families love while adding sharper design, more power and a modern, tech-forward cabin.
Sleeker, sculpted sheet metal with full-width LED light bars across the grille, double-stacked headlights, an illuminated VW badge, animated turn signals and slim LED taillights.
A revised 2.0L turbocharged engine now makes 282 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque — up from 269 hp — paired with an 8-speed automatic and available 4MOTION AWD.
An organic new cabin with wave-like detailing, available real wood trim, ambient lighting and available Nappa or Varenna leather. A new driver experience dial controls volume, ambiance and drive modes.
Up to a 15-inch touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital cockpit, IQ.DRIVE driver assistance with hands-on Travel Assist, and a new front-center airbag (seven total).
Standard power liftgate and park distance control, available captain's chairs, panoramic moonroof, rear window sunshades and rear B-pillar air vents.
EPA-estimated fuel economy improves by roughly 2 mpg versus the outgoing model — up to 25 mpg combined — with a hybrid variant confirmed for a future update.
